Sing or hum your melody and the whole band is built on it: chords chosen for your tune, then drums, bass, keys, guitar, and pads, every instrument on its own channel. Hear it under your voice, take it to the studio, or play it from your keyboard.
Sing your melody
A verse or a chorus is enough. Four clicks count you in, then a soft click keeps time.
Headphones keep the click out of your recording. Your voice stays on your device.
How it works
Press the microphone: four clicks count you in, a soft click keeps time, and you sing a verse or a chorus. Or drop a voice note. Know your chords? Type them instead.
Afrobeats, Gospel, Reggae, Rumba, Bongo Flava, a ballad, or your own band in your own words, any genre, any instruments. Your melody gets chords, and the band plays them at your tempo, in your key.
Play the beat under your own voice. Download the beat, the beat with your voice, every instrument and your voice as separate WAVs, or MIDI with your melody on channel 1.
Why use it
Afrobeats' shaker and offbeat keys, Gospel praise with organ and tambourine, Rumba's sebene guitar, Bongo Flava's laid-back groove, and a warm ballad.
Drums, bass, keys, guitar, and pads each on their own MIDI channel, and as their own audio file, so the engineer can mix your song properly.
Mute a part, change an instrument, turn the bass up, fix a note in the piano roll. A new tempo or key rewrites the beat in a moment.
Same chords, same style, a different feel: the drums and players vary their timing and touch, as real players do.
One General MIDI file that keyboards and digital pianos play from USB, with channel 1 left free for the melody.
The beat is made in your browser, so there's no upload, no queue, and no cost per song.
Beat Maker hears your voice, arranges, and renders the beat in your browser: your singing is turned into notes on your device by Spotify's open Basic Pitch model, and the instrument sounds (the GeneralUser GS SoundFont, played by the open-source SpessaSynth synthesizer) download once from this site. Your recordings, chords, and beats aren't uploaded. We count anonymous usage (the style and download format, and browser) to keep the tool improving.

Yes. Press the microphone, sing after the four count-in clicks, and press stop. Your voice becomes a melody on the device, the melody gets chords that fit it, and the band plays them in the style you pick, at the tempo you sang. Then play it under your voice and download it.
Yes. Choose “Paste a song”, press “Copy the prompt for your AI”, and give it to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or any AI with what your song is about. It writes the song in Standard Rhythmic Notation: its band, sections, lyrics, chords, and the melody as notes. Paste that back and the whole song is arranged at once by the band it describes (every instrument it names, not one of our presets), each section as full as it says, the melody and choir lines on their own tracks, and the lyrics in the MIDI. The Sheet Music Player does the same, and also plays fully written scores exactly as written.
No. Sing; the key, the tempo, and the chords are worked out for you. If you do know your chords, they're shown under your melody to change, or switch to “Type the chords”.
It tells the beat your exact tempo and where bar 1 is, so the band lines up with your singing. You can switch it off and sing freely (or drop a voice note): the tempo is then worked out from your singing, which works best when you sing steadily.
Choose “Type the chords”, type them (Am F C G, or bar by bar with | between bars), pick a style, and press Make the beat. It plays at once; download it as a WAV, as separate instruments, or as MIDI.
Yes. “Each instrument” downloads a ZIP with the drums, bass, keys, guitar, and pads as separate WAV files, lined up from the same start, without reverb, so they mix cleanly in any studio software. The MIDI file has each instrument on its own channel too.
Any: choose “Your own band” and describe it in your own words (“roots reggae: skank guitar, organ, nyabinghi, trumpet and trombone stabs”), with as many instruments as you like, each on its own track. Or start from one of ours: Afrobeats, Gospel praise, Worship ballad, Roots reggae, Rumba (Congolese), Bongo Flava, and a Pop / R&B ballad, each with a verse groove and a fuller chorus groove, drum fills, an intro, and an ending.
Drop the song (or a demo of it) into the free Vocal Remover: it finds the chords bar by bar and the tempo, and its “Make a beat” button opens them here.
“Full song” repeats your chords for about three minutes, with verse and chorus sections; “Short loop” is about four times through. Chords from a whole song play once, bar by bar.
Yes. The beat opens in a piano-roll editor below it: mute or solo parts, change instruments and volumes, fix or move notes. Downloads use your changes.
“For keyboards” downloads one General MIDI file, the kind keyboards and digital pianos play from a USB stick. Channel 1 is left free for your melody.
Yes, the beats you make here are yours to use, including commercially. The chords themselves aren't owned by anyone; just don't present someone else's recording as your own.
Yes, with no sign-up and no limits. It runs in your browser, so there's no cost per beat.
